On Biblical Business
by Roque Dalton
The Bible says
Christ multiplied bread
and fish for the people.
If that's so, he did well
and that makes him greater than a great general
who wins a thousand battles in which millions of poor people die.
But at present the North Americans,
to see that bread and fish don't multiply
and that everyone suffers in resignation
the multiplied hunger that's part of big business,
step up production of Bibles
in all the dialects we poor speak
and ship them to us in the hands of blond young men

Now I Understand
by Mario Benedetti
When president carter
gets all worked-up
about human
rights
it seems that in this context
he doesn't mean
faculties
or attributes
or free will
but rather not-left
or anti-left
or the side opposite you heart
in short, right wing
therefore
isn't it time
that we launch
a massive international campaign
for human
lefts?

The Forest by William J Pomeroy
RevSocialist اش... Wed, 08/11/2010 - 13:49
This book (220pg) by amerikan communist William Pomeroy is about the post-WWII armed struggle of the Filipino resistance group Hukbalahap (aka Huk) against the puppet Filipino governments that were simply the local running dogs of amerikkkan imperialism, and many of who were actually colonial officials during the period of amerikkkan colonial occupation and also during the fascist japanese occupation. The Hukbalahap was originally created on 29 March 1942, shortly after the japanese occupation of the phillipines and the start of mass repression that the japanese carried out routinely in it's occupied territories. It was created as an armed resistance organization to the japanese fascists, and was composed of communists, socialists, and trade unionists, and occupation wise made up mainly of peasants, with a smaller percentage of workers.

Children (2001)
by Mario Benedetti
In the world there is no abundance of those who kill
so mechanically and so coolly
with the good aim and useless hatred
of American children
that tribe of angels that proliferates
in the garbage bin of democracy
these children that have aged from being so vile
play in their workshop of spilled blood
they don't know how to cry or run barefoot
their burning hearts push them
to kill and kill like grown-ups
without knowing why they do it
and sometimes the birds ask them
why they do away with other children
Clandestine in Chile by Gabriel Garcia Marquez
RevSocialist اش... Tue, 02/16/2010 - 12:35
This relatively short (120pg) book by Colombian writer Gabriel Garcia Marquez is about Pinochet's amerikkkan installed and supported murderous regime. Clandestine in Chile is one of Marquez's non-fictional works, in this case written by Marquez after many hours of interviews with Chilean director Miguel Littín. The book describes Littin's clandestine journey back to Chile under a false identity (he was banned by Pinochet from entering his own country) to film a movie about Pinochet's bloody dictatorship and the resistance that was fighting it. It also shows how “art” can be used in the fight against capitalism and imperialism, which is obviously very important in general, and in specific because that is what this site is all about: liberating “art”, literature mainly, which is directed against capitalism and imperialism. I would like to thank comrade zuzu, the sister of a friend, for the recommendation to read this book.
65 years after a massacre: Dresden by Ulrike Meinhof
RevSocialist اش... Sat, 02/13/2010 - 07:22
Today, 13 Febuary 2010, is the 65th commemoration of the english and amerikkkan fire-bombing massacre perpetrated against the civilian population of Dresden. As we remember these victims, we should keep in mind the present-day victims of english and amerikkkan bombing massacres which continue to happen every day. This article is actually one of German Marxist Ulrike Meinhof's famous columns in the leftist paper konkret (before she joined the Red Army Faction and was later executed in prison, Meinhof was a well-known and respected leftist writer and journalist), and I will be publishing some of her columns periodically in the future. This column was written on the 20th commemoration, but is still obviously very relevant. Enjoy comrades:

Negroes with Guns by Robert Williams
RevSocialist اش... Fri, 01/08/2010 - 07:46
This book, Negroes with Guns, documents how the black community in Monroe, North Carolina, under the leadership of Robert Williams, decided to take up the policy of violent self-defense. His account of the success of this policy goes to show you how wrong the "so-called negro leaders" (Malcolm X's phrase) were. Williams even documents an occasion were some of the non-violent "freedom riders" came to Monroe, and details how the level of white violence reached it's pinnacle against these non-violent activists, whereas the racist whites never had the guts to attack the black community of Monroe like that because they had armed themselves and weren't afraid to defend themselves. I read this book about two months ago, and I must say it is a very powerfull and radical book, and I was very impressed with it.
Assata (Shakur), an Autobiography
RevSocialist اش... Fri, 01/08/2010 - 07:17
Assata Shakur was a black panther (and later a member of the Black Liberation Army, a group formed by former Panthers after the demise of the Black Panther Party), one of the most famous, who was framed up by the FBI like so many other black revolutionaries in ameriKKKa. After being imprisoned for four years, comrades of hers broke her out of prison and several years later she escaped ameriKKKa altogether and claimed political asylum in Cuba (like many other Panthers and african revolutionaries) where she now lives.
The autobiography of Black Panther H. Rap Brown (aka Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin)
RevSocialist اش... Fri, 01/08/2010 - 06:54
I have quoted several times already on my other blog Al-Amin's autobiography "Die Nigger Die!" and before I present the book I would like to explain the off putting title, in Al-Amin's words: "Negroes and whites have wished death to all Blacks, to all niggers. Their sentiment is “Die Nigger Die!” – either by becoming a negro or by institutionalization or active genocide." Al-Amin was a well known leader in the civil rights struggle and later became an important figure in the Black Panthers. This book doesn't just detail political struggle, it also documents life in the heart of the most racist country on earth, similar to the divide in Malcolm X's autobiography. All in all I really enjoyed this book, and thought it was worth sharing with all my comrades out there for them to enjoy...so enjoy :)
