This story (64pg) is a good portrayal of the day to day routine and struggle of one of the most neglected groups in society: the poor elderly. It also makes the point of how the state neglects it's citizens, even those citizens, like the Colonel, who worked in high positions in the service of this same state. They may often promise to help the poor and the elderly, but regardless of this, and regardless of if they spent their lives working for this state, a capitalist state will always betray it's people and would rather people starve and descend into poverty in the millions rather than helping them, and thus taking some food out of their own mouths and the mouths of the well-fed and fattened rich on which a capitalist state serves in everything it possibly can.
