Our Manifesto
The Purpose of SocialistStories.org
The main purpose of this site is to offer free revolutionary and radical literature which is kept enslaved in the upscale book stores and private university libraries of the world due to reactionary copyRight laws and the general reactionary, capitalistic nature of the world we live in as it now stands. We believe that knowledge should be free, that the spread of books and all types of literature should not be dependent first and foremost on making a profit, i.e. putting more money into the pockets of the oppressor class. Therefore we are offering all types of literature on this site for free, liberating them from their enslavement to capital and the reactionary laws which govern this wretched world.
Types of Literature on SocialistStories.org
We have all types of literature on this site: books, short stories, plays, poems, theoretical works, and often times essay's on literature contributed by one of the PFLB guerillas. But this sentence alone says little about what types of literature we present here. To clarify I first need to delve into the types of literature (whether novels, short stories, poems, plays, whatever) which are written "solely for art's sake." This is a very prevalent and widely held opinion of literature (not to mention other types of art) and should not be viewed as neutral or given any sympathy. One cannot be neutral in this world, everything is political, and the people who argue for this "artistic" view of literature are almost to a person devout reactionaries who argue for this because they don't want anything to change, because they are happy to see the world remain divided by classes, because they are fine with millions starving to death, because they are fine with the majority of people slaving inhuman hours to produce the wealth which the upper classes glut themselves on. In other words they are faithful bourgeois. For that is what "neutrality" in our despicable world means: to accept the brutal rule of the few over the many. No, we cannot be neutral, to be so is nothing short of criminal, and literature which is written solely for "art's" sake only furthers the cause of the brutal capitalists and racists who currently have near complete hegemony over our world.
Literature should be subversive, it should not be written solely for "art's" sake, but rather should be one of the many weapons levelled against the current economic, social, and political system which controls us and seeks to beat us into submission and subservience. Of course there is no reason at all for this type of literature to be boring or simple. On the contrary it should be both entertaining and eloquent, but in NO case should any literature be written solely with the intention of being entertaining and eloquent. For examples of this type of literature, you need only browse our collection of subversive literature which we have assembled on this site. We will never put any works on this site if they are literature written for "art's" sake. And we must realize something: this type of literature, no matter how "eloquent" or "entertaining" it is, has no use in the world except to distract us and to further the rule of the few over the many.
Thus this site will bring to light literature which defies the standards of bourgeois culture and which furthers the socialist cause. This blog is only one small part of the attempt by all socialists to work towards a non-hegemonic culture which puts the interests of the workers, the peasants, and the poor first, and the capitalist last.
